- GASTONIA - Mrs. Mary Coleen Walker Smith, 78, of Brian Nursing Center died Dec. 18, 1989. Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at McLean & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Capps officiating. Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park. Visitation is 7 to 8:30 tonight.
- Mrs. Smith, a retired textile employee with Pharr Yarns, was a Wilkes County native, daughter of the late York and Cora McGee Walker. She was the widow of Fred Smith. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church for 54 years.
- Survivors are her son, Danny Smith; daughter, Mrs. Kathy Stone; brothers, Ray Walker of Atlanta, Coleman Walker of Kings Creek; sister, Mrs. Bertha Edmondson of Boomer; eight grandchildren.
- Memorials can be made to First Wesleyan Church, 208 S. Church St., Gastonia, N.C. 28054.
- The family will be at 402 Wyoming Ln., Gastonia.
