The death of Mrs. Richard Cornell occurred last Thursday after an illness of one week. Her death resulted from an intestinal derangement complicated with an ailment of the heart.
Mrs. Cornell's maiden name was Sarah M. Wickham. She was born in Liberty township Dec. 22, 1846, and her age was 48 years, 1 moth and 29 days. She was married Aug. 16th, 1866, to Richard Cornell, and to them were born five sons and three daughters. The husband, three sons and three daughters, remain to mourn her loss.
She united with the Dunkard church in October, 1866, afterwards transferring her membership to the Methodist Protestant church. She was a woman of much force of character and greatly esteemed by all her knew her. Her funeral took place on Sunday from the Mt. Olive church, the service being conducted by Rev. N.C. Pierce assisted by Revs. M.A. Hughes and Wm. McCorkle. The interment was in the Warden cemetery, the services at the grave being conducted by Odd Fellows, the husband and one son being members of that order, and the deceased having taken the Rebekah degree.
