John Darrell "Duke" Barnes, age 76, died October 13, 2010. Funeral Services October 15, 2010, at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Windell Jones officiating and Dr. Van Christian assisting.

He was born on June 16, 1934, in Roswell, New Mexico to Travis Burl and Ruby Ruth (Baggett) Barnes.
John graduated from Roswell High School and attended Howard Payne and Baylor Universities.

On August 10, 1956, he was united in marriage to Ann Wideman in San Antonio, Texas. He was in the United States Air Force and Reserves, stationed at Lackland Air Force Base and Randolph Air Force Base. For thirty years, John spent his professional life as a real estate salesman. He was a kind and gentle man who loved people. His family was the center of his life, and he was a loving Grandpa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Louise; two children, daughter, Deborah Ann Armstrong and husband Danny Armstrong, and son, Duke John Darrell Barnes; one sister, Jane Jones; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Ruby Barnes, and brother, Al Barnes.
