IRON RIVER---Carol A. Lahti, 85, died Sept. 16, 2008 at her home.
She was born March 28, 1923 in Iron River. The daughter of the late Richard and Jennie (Christensen) Britten attended the Nash School and Iron River High School. On June 14, 1941 she married Paul Lahti in Iron River. The couple moved to Detroit, returning to Iron River in 1946 where they resided until moving to Pickstown, S.D. in 1952. In 1955 they returned to Iron River until moving to Chicago in 1963, where she was employed by Stuart Warner Corporation. Her husband preceded her in death in 1967. She returned to the Iron River area in 1975 and was employed by Coleman Products from 1976 until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River and the Hi Noon Moonlighters Snowmobile Club of Iron River. She enjoyed walking her dog, Muffin, and going camping and fishing. She was preceded in death by her special companion, Joe Brzoznowski in 2006; three brothers, Richard, Warren and Willard Britten; and two sisters, Viola Wienert and Vivian Erickson.
She is survived by a daughter Jean Lahti of Crystal Falls; a son Alex of Adams, Wis.; three grandchildren, Paul (Katrina) Wagner, Jenny (John) Somers and A.J. Lahti; three great-grandchildren, Reid and Mackenzie Somers and Marsha Lahti.
Funeral services were held Sept. 19 at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River with Rev. Dawn Treado Green officiating.
Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Iron County Community Hospital Hospice Program.
