She died at Spring Grove Assisted Living.

She was born to Odolf and Julia (Storlie) Ganrud. She was a lifelong area resident, attending rural Spring Grove schools. On Dec. 16, 1927, Gilma married Owen Onsgard in Redwing, Minn.

Gilma was able to be in her home for over 70 years before moving to Spring Grove Assisted Living on Sept. 3, 2005. They became her extended family.

Gilma was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, and its womens groups; she had been a member of the Elizabeth Circle for many years, hosting it at her home in Assisted Living shortly before her death.

She had also been a den mother for the Boy Scouts, and a scout leader for the Brownies and Girl Scouts. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Sons of Norway, and the Buds and Blossoms garden club.

Gilma had been named Ambassador for the Minnesota Society for Crippled Children and Adults, she was recently honored at Camp Courage in Golden Valley, Minn. She had hosted the F.F.A. Corn drive for years. She was named the Spring Grove Syttende Mai Mest Hoyakte Dame for their yearly celebration. Gilma was involved in other organizations over the years, to numerous to list.

She owned and operated Grove Floral with Gordon Roble. She managed Midwest Textile in Mabel, Minn., and she also worked at the hardware store in Spring Grove.

Survivors included her daughter, Julie Neve and her friend, John Crogan; ten grandchildren, Rick, Nancy, Ron, Sue, Kathi, Cary, Janel, Robyn, Bridget and Kelly; 17 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Owen, she was preceded in death by two sons, Dale and his wife, Naomi, and Robert; and seven siblings, Olga, Corrine, Vernon, Odell, Henry, Gladys and Selma; and one sister in infancy.
