Martha Jane Scearce was born in Kentucky May 1, 1814. Was united in marriage to James A. Reynolds, in 1837. From Kentucky they moved to Indiana, and in 1844 to Davis county, Iowa. In March 1852 they came to High Point township, Decatur county, where they have lived ever since upon the same farm that was deeded to them by the government. Mrs. Reynolds passed away from earth June 10, and was laid to rest in the Garden Grove cemetery.
No words of ours can add to or detract from her life's work. We feel that it was well done, and that we have lost our best friend on earth. HENRY REYNOLDS

Henry Reynolds and family were called to High Point township, Decatur county, last Saturday, by the death of his mother which occured Friday.
