PARKERSBURG - Betty Zane Amos Allman Patton, 79, of the Parkersburg area passed away Monday July 14, 2003, in Birmingham, Ala., after a prolonged illness.

Mrs. Patton was born near Rockport in Wirt County on June 10, 1924, a daughter of the late Samuel C. and Addie E. Archer Amos.

She worked for the railroad in Portland, Ore., and for a department store in Columbus, Ohio. She moved to Parkersburg in 1957. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She lived in Parkersburg until she moved to Birmingham in March 2000. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Parkersburg Chapter 14.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Richard M. Allman of Birmingham; her three grandsons, Brian C. Allman of Parkersburg, Justin Allman and Philip Allman, both of Birmingham; six nieces and four nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Donnally C. (Charlie) Allman; her first husband, Charles C. Allman; her second husband, William E. Patton; seven brothers, Clayton, Edwin, Franklin, Homer, John, Kermit and Warren Amos; and one sister, Eva Wright.

There will be a graveside service 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg. The Rev. Eric Reeder will officiate and burial will follow. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, Fifth Street, Parkersburg.
