Lucinda K. (Kimberling) Walton, age 95, died peacefully on Friday, February 11, 2011 in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, with her loving family at her side.

Lucinda, who loved being called Cindy, was born in Cedar County, Iowa, to Claude and Sarah Kimberling. She was raised on an Iowa farm with a brother, Vernon, and sister, Virginia. She attended local schools where she was an honor student. Following graduation she attended a two year Junior College in Marion, Iowa.

After a brief career, she married her high school sweetheart, Donald V. Walton. In 1944 Cindy and Don moved to Bellingham, Washington where they raised their wonderful family.

When her youngest children reached their teen years, Cindy entered the workforce; first with Western Washington State University in Bellingham, WA; then at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, WA; and finally at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA.

While at Stanford she became an eager and loyal Stanford Cardinal football fan and a passionate follower of the San Francisco 49ers.

Following her retirement she traveled extensively and became an accomplished china painter.

Cindy left California in 2000, moving to an active retirement community in Massachusetts, near two of her daughters and several grandchildren. She spent many enjoyable summers with family and friends on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee in Moultonborough, NH.

Throughout her life Cindy was deeply involved in both the Methodist and Free Methodist Church, which gave her great comfort and hope knowing that her life was safely in God's hands.

Cindy was predeceased by her parents; her brother and sister,; her husband; and three of her children.

She is survived by three daughters: Mary Jo (Odell) Bailey, of Moultonborough, NH, and Naples, FL, Carolyn (Craig) Carlson, of Milford, CT, and Katherine Walton, of Chanhassen, MN; two sons: Wesley Walton, of Central Point, OR, and Douglas Walton, of CA; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

A family celebration of her life will be held in the spring in Moultonborough, NH.

Memorial donations in her memory may be made to any local office of the Salvation Army.
