In Memoriam
Again the death knell has sounded in the once happy home of Mr. and Mrs. ApRoberts. Again the slow moving funeral train has carried to the "silent city" a loved form leaving a saddened group behind for after long weeks of weary pain Paul has passed over the dark river. He was born Sept. 30, 1871. Died at twenty-four- so young, and but for a short time before so strong and fearless in his brave young manhood.
His school life began and ended in the Normal. Several years ago he went to Montana where in the wild of life of the plains he spent a year and a half. Later he spent a summer in North Dakota and the summer of '94 in Idaho, returning from thence to fill a position in his father's store until the early summer of the present year, when his failing health closed his labors there, and in the months since he has been fighting so unsuccessfully the fatal disease of consumption. He clung so closely and hopefully until from a mother's fond lips he learned of the nearness of death, and to her he breathed his willingness to go and a trust in the loving forgiveness of his Heavenly Father - both eyes and lips confirmed the comforting messages.
We laid him away under the pure white snow, 'neath the shade of the evergreen above, through whose branches the wind sighed a requiem over the boy that we loved.
The warm sympathy of many hearts will go out to the lonely ones who in years to come will so often "long for the touch of a hand and the sound of a voice that is still."
