OBITUARY
Mrs. Lucy Maxim, whose maiden name was Pritchard, was born in Cazenovia, N. Y. in 1825. Her first husband was Henry Fisher, who died in California many years ago.
She came with her daughter, Mrs. Niles, to Hartford in 1871 and married O. P. Maxim in 1873. He died Dec. 23, '96.
Mrs. Maxim joined the Baptist church in Dowagiac 35 years ago and remained a consistent Christian until her death. Two years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis and then requested that in case of her death, Rev. E. E. Branch, a former pastor here, should be called to attend her funeral. On March 27th she suffered another stroke from which she lingered one week and died April 4th. She was buried on the 6th at the old cemetery; her former request being followed and Rev. Branch officiated at the funeral. Many very beautiful flowers were presented by loving friends and neighbors. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Niles, she leaves one brother, Philo Pritchard of Lawton, to mourn her loss, besides many friends who knew and appreciated her worth during the 28 years she had resided in Hartford.
