Thanks to Angela Simmons, Ollie's granddaughter, for providing this lovely photo of Violet & her mother, Ollie Sizemore.
*****

Violet was the niece of my husband's grandmother, Amanda (Sizemore) Self. In November 1996 I had the privilege of talking to her on the phone. She was very pleasant, had a good sense of humor, & an excellent memory; sounding much younger than age 87. She shared many interesting things that she remembered about her grandparents, Charlotte & Owen Sizemore. I was particularly interested in learning about Owen's funeral. She recalled that he wasn't taken to a funeral home; that the family had bought a coffin & taken it to her grandparent's home. The things she told me about the family were so interesting that I could have listened for hours.
