John Alvis (John Jr.) was the seventh of eleven children {six sons & five daughters} born to John & Anna Maria (Athmann) Braun.

On 11 July 1911, John Alvis married Susanna (Susan) Heinen, in Melrose, MN; he was age 24, she was 22.

John was known to be a very congenial person. A farmer who farmed in Lake Henry (Township), about three miles from Regal, MN and six miles from Lake Henry, MN from 1912-1920. Due to health problems they moved to Sauk Centre, MN in 1920. They moved back to Lake Henry in 1924. In 1927, he purchased 156 acres of land from his father, John Braun for $13,362.

John Alvis died at home, following a ten-month illness after a stroke; he was at age 62.
