Julius franz Foerst was born June 8, 1845 in Germany, in Neyhof, Brandenburg, West Prussia. He served in the Kaiser's guard in Prussia, probably in about 1871. He was over 6 feet tall and had red hair and a beard. A man had to be tall in order to serve in the Kaiser's Guard, according to information passed down in the family. He married Caroline Lang. They lived in Mount Pleasant, then he gambled away their property. The family then moved to New Baltimore. There were 15 children born altogether.
