Carol Marie Hearting was born July 22, 1922 in Brownell, KS, to the late Abraham and Stella (Stull) Sunley. She passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011, in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital at WaKeeney at the age of 89.
She attended Brownell Grade School and graduated from Brownell High School.
On May 11, 1940, Carol married Kenneth Adair Hearting in Dighton, KS. Together, they owned and operated K-Hearting Amusement Company for 60 years. Kenneth passed away December 25, 2010.
Carol was always busy keeping books for the business, but in her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, gardening and cooking for the family. She also enjoyed traveling and reading.
Those left to mourn her passing are two sons, Russell and wife, Jeanice, WaKeeney, Richard and wife, Judy, Collyer; two daughters, Margaret Wahlborg and husband, Elgin, Arkansas City, KS, Barbara Richter and husband, Stephen, McLean, VA; eleven grandchildren, Troy Wahlborg, Tish Becker and husband, Eric, Rusty Hearting, Holly Hearting, Amy Hearting, William Richter and wife, Gretchen, Kaylee Vasquez and husband, David, Ashlee Parke and husband, Luke, Lisa Hearting, Brandy Althouse, Wade Hearting and wife Chelsea; and five great-grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; a son Duane Hearting and his wife, Susan; five brothers; and three sisters.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment is in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
