Fernando A. Aguilar, age 73, was called back to the Lord on September 17, 2011. Fernando is survived by his son Fernando G. Aguilar Jr. and his daughter-in-law Lysa Aguilar; daughter Leticia Vinton and his son-in-law Richard Vinton; brother Tomas Aguilar; sisters Ramona Verdeja and Eloisa Prado; grandsons Richard Joshua Vinton, JohnPaul Aguilar and Daniel Aguilar and numerous nephews, nieces and God children. He was born in 1938 in La Parita, Texas to Alberto Aguilar and Ramona Alvarado Aguilar, both deceased. He is preceded in death by his wife Lucia Garcia Aguilar.
With only a sixth grade education from Sayer's schoolhouse, our dad worked alongside his family as a migrant worker. He went from migrant worker to self employed businessman when he proudly opened F. Aguilar Upholstery in 1980. This year, after 30 years of service, the doors to the upholstery shop were closed. Our dad was a loyal friend and brother. He was a father who taught by example, a loving husband for 46 years and he served Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church by playing the guitar in the choir. He also served as president of the Holy Name Society and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed seeing his family grow and was ready to receive God's will. We will miss him dearly but his spirit will forever be alive in us. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church at 618 S. Grimes. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the "A. Aguilar-San Martin Cemetery" located at 14500 Stuart Road.
