Mrs Charles Gossick, 70 was found dead about 4 p.m. Monday at her home, 412 North C.
Police had been summoned by neighbors when they noticed she had not been seen around the house all day and that lights had been on in the house all night.
Police found all doors and windows locked, and finally forced open a back door to gain entrance. They found Mrs. Gossick's body on the kitchen floor.
Dr. C.F. Watson, county medical examiner, said she had been dead from 12 to 24 hours. The last time she was seen by a neighbor was about 4 p.m. Sunday.
The body is at the Raymond Funeral Home where last rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Ned Gillum in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Edith M. Gossick was born July 6, 1900, the daughter of Walter and Elva Smith Wilson. She was reared and educated in Fairfield.
