VANDER MEER- Donald J. Vander Meer, aged 80, of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2002. He is preceded in death by his wife, Christine; and his daughter, mardell. Surviving are his children, Kathleen Viveen of Ferrysburg, MI, Shirley and Sherman Mumpower of Grand Rapids; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; step-children, Robert, Gordon, Howard Reynolds, and their families; his sister and brothers, Carol and Craig Strain of Grand Rapids, Edwin and Sandra Vander Meer of West Viginia, Ronald and Shelly Vander Meer of Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews. Donald served with the U.S. Army during WWII, was a member of the Creston VFW Post #3023, and had retired from the C&O Railroad after 42 years of service. Funeral and committal services will be held 3:oo p.m. Friday at the Reyers North Valley Chapel, with Rev. Steven Holman officiating. Interment in Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet his family at the chapel from 1:00 p.m. til the time of the sevice Frieday. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Cerebral Palsy.
