According to the death certificate mother's maiden name was Freeman.

The Miller News, March 27, 1952: 'G. R. Akins, longtime farmer and resident in this community, died at his home here in Miller late Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Akins had been in serious health for sometime but had gradually become worse the past several days.

Until they moved to Miller about two years ago, he and Mrs. Akins lived on a farm two miles northwest of Miller and were noted for the strawberries and other truck crops they produced there. Due to their age and ill health they were forced to leave the farm however and move to Miller.

He is survived by his wife of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Shaffer of Miller; three sons, Homer Akins of Calif., Carl of Kansas City and Ray, whose address was not learned when this was written.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be under direction of Morris-Leiman of Miller.'
