Ira A. Mauk Dies Suddenly; Services Saturday, 1:30 P.M.
Ira L. Mauk, 65, long time resident of Carnegie, died suddenly of a cerebral hemorrhage at his home east of Tuttle Wednesday of last week. He had been in failing health for several months. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Church of Christ, Tuttle of which he was a member. Burial was at Dover.
Born in Pratt county, Kan.,m Aug. 12, 1884, Ira came with his parents to Dover when he was 10 years old and grew up in that community. A brother, the late Fred Mauk, was one of the first settlers in Carnegie, and when Ira was a young man he came here and spent about two years before going to Kansas City to work.
He was married in 1908 to Louise Facemeier in Kansas City. They moved to Orlando, Fla., and lived there until 1925 when they came to Carnegie to make their home. They lived in Carnegie and had farming interests south of town. Mrs. Mauk died Dec. 5, 1945.
Mauk made his home in Eakly for a time and in 1947 married Mrs. Blanche McCoy. They moved from Eakly to Carnegie in 1949 and made their home here until last fall when they bought the farm home near Tuttle.
Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Blanche Mauk of the home; two sons, Kenneth and Edwin of Dallas; a daughter, Mrs. Retta Stratton, Shawnee; two brothers, Dan, Norfolk, Neb., and John M. of Maud, and three sisters, Miss Laura Mauk, Tokyo; Mrs. Lula Biles, Falls City, Neb., and Mrs. Pearl Saunders, Council Grove, Kan. Three grandchildren also survive.
The sons and daughter, John, Mrs. Biles and Mrs. Saunders attended the funeral. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. R.G. Chapman, Cisco, Texas; Mrs. Carl Garner, CGWalters, and Mrs. Martha Mauk, Mr. and Mrs. Denton Bridwell and C.E. Jones of Carnegie.
