St. Cloud Daily Times, Tues. Oct. 23, 1928, p. 7:4. MARTIN RIEDER DIES FOLLOWING SHORT ILLNESS. Native Resident Dead After Pneumonia Siege; Remains at Brother's Home. Martin Rieder, a native resident of St. Cloud, and a member of the 13th Minnesota regiment which served during the Spanish American war, died shortly after midnight last nights, after an illness which started two weeks ago. Death was caused by pneumonia. Mr. Rieder, who was 54 years of age, was born in St. Cloud, and with the exception of several years spent at Rogers MN, and in foreign waters during the Spanish American war, lived here continuously all his life. He was a stonecutter by procession and followed this line of work until his illness. The remains were taken today to the home of his brother, John Rieder, 616 Ninth avenue south, where they will be held until the time of the funeral. Pallbearers are expected to be selected from his regimental associates for the funeral service which will be held at the St. Mary's church at 10 a.m. Thursday morning, with interment following in the Rieder family lot in Calvary cemetery. Besides his wife, Mr. Rieder leaves four children: Mrs. Ray Harry, Sylvia and Leo of St. Cloud; and Alphonse of Alberton GA; a brother John Rieder, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Blommer of St. Cloud.
