Boxing trainer. He had been an amateur heavyweight, but retired when he was unable to represent the country at the 1948 London Olympics. He trained ring legend Carlos Monzón and thirteen other world champions. In 2007, he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, New York. In addition to Monzón, he trained world champions like Miguel Angel Cuello, Juan Domingo Cordoba, Jorge Rodrigo Barrios, Carlos Baldomir, Miguel Lora, Sugar ‘Baby' Rojas, Thomas Molinares, Luis Mendoza, Rafael Pineda, Francisco Tejedor, Francisco Quiroz, Antonio Esparragoza and Antonio Carlos Hernandez.
