Bob was the youngest child born to Bobby Lankford & Pearl Fuller Lankford in McAlester, OK. His headstone says born in 1925, it is a mistake and his actual birth was Tuesday, June 15,1926. Bob died at 29 years 1 month & 2 days old at Garberville Hospital Sunday, July 17th, 1955 after a car accident the evening before on the Ave of the Giants a few miles south of Phillipsville, Ca

Bob's Mother died in 1928 and after his father's death in 1933, shortly after his fathers death he moved to Kilgore, Texas with his much older half brother & wife Arthur & Boyce Pearce.
As a boy Bob broke horses, before quitting school and lying about his age to join the Navy at 15 years of age in Nov.1941. Serving on the USS Honolulu and the USS PC. His Military papers shows his height to be only 5'5" when he joined at 15, as a man he was approximately 6'3". The growth showing he was just a young boy when he joined the Navy and fought in the war.

After the Navy he married Edith J. Gossien. They had five children, a daughter Bobbie Faye born in Laurel, Mississippi in 1946 & a son Robert Andrew Jr. born in Clarendon, Arkansas in 1948 before moving to Coos County, Oregon for work. In Oregon they had 3 more children a son Arthur "Lynn" in 1950, daughter Djuanna Jean in 1951 & daughter Marty Ann in 1953.

The family moved to Humboldt County, Ca in 1954, Bob working in Sawmills as a rachet setter and sawyer. Long time friend Earl Cheney said no one liked to follow Bob in any job, that Bob was good and extremely fast at everything he did, few if any could keep up with him.

Everyone that knew Bob said he was just fun, tall, almost black headed, very good looking, always smiling, and was known to fight and win every fight back in the logging bar room fights.

Bob was killed in a car accident after hitting a tree at Meadowwood shortly before Phillipsville, Ca. on highway 101, the Avenue of the Giants.
