Hannah was born August 4, 1863, in Christiana Township, Vernon County, Wisconsin, daughter of Christian H. Ballsrud and Marie Enerson. She was taken suddenly ill on March 31, 1902, while at a picnic at the Sugar Grove School in Clinton Township, Vernon County and died the same day. She is buried in Coon Praire Lutheran Cemetery, Chistiana Township, Vernon County, Wisconsin.

On August 20, 1903, in Vernon County, Wisconsin, Hannah married Philip Appleman, son of Jesse Appleman and his third wife, Mary Adline McMichael Crawford Graham.
Their children were: Eber Jesse, b. 2 May 1887, died young; Mary Adelaide, b. 17 Jul 1888; Charles, b. 4 Aug 1891, died young; Ruth, b. May 1895; and a male child who died young.
