Jesse Weems

Jesse James Weems, 65, Town Creek, died at the Kennedy VA Hospital in Memphis Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. after several months illness. He was a native of Colbert County and had lived most of his life in Town Creek.

He was a retired farmer, member of New Hope (Lawrence County) Baptist Church, veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion Post in Moulton.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. from the Old Bethel Methodist Church in Lawrence County with burial in the Old Bethel Cemetery.

Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Jessie Terry Weems; one daughter, Mrs. W.A. Pullen, Town Creek; three sons, Billy Weems, Melrose Park, Ill., Gerald Weems, Decatur, and J.K. Weems, Muscle Shoals; one sister, Mrs. Mary Cross, Courtland; one half-brother, A.J. Flanigan, Decatur and seven grandchildren.

The remains will be at the residence until time for services.

Active bearers will be the nephews.
