Rosie C. Allen, 80, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at her home.
She was born April 11, 1928, in Centralia, the daughter of Eugene Downs and Gertie (Walker) Downs.
Rosie married the Rev. Earl R. Allen on Sept. 26, 1960, in Coulterville. He passed away April 17, 1999.
She was the minister of Glorious Church in Oklahoma City.
Rosie is survived by sons, Kevin Allen of Ava, Vance Allen of Ava, Mark Allen of Ava and Bill Schaeffer of Staunton; daughters, Sondra Hewerdence of Ava and Angela Allen of Ava; brothers, Robert Downs of Du Quoin, Wayne Downs of Du Quoin and Milton Downs of Collinsville; sisters, Bonny Smith of Ark, Kan., Thelma Smith of Du Quoin and Viola Baker of Cutler; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Alecia; two brothers, Deon and Albert; and two sisters, Martha and Ruby.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008, in Jubilee Tabernacle Church in De Soto, with Pastor Danny Norman officiating. Burial will be in Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava and from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday at the church.
