Chester F. Brainard, Jr., 84, of 37 New King St., Enfield, died Monday (Feb. 19, 1996) at an area nursing home. Born in Enfield, he was a lifelong resident of the community, and a member of the Enfield High School, class of 1929. He had been employed at the former Brainard Nursery & Seed Co. for 27 years, retiring 30 years ago. Mr. Brainard was a charter member of the Enfield Historical Society, and was elected as a Fellow of the Society in 1985. He also served as treasurer for 18 years. He was a member of the Enfield Congregational Church, and also a World War II Army veteran, serving three years as company clerk with the 372nd Engineer General Service Regiment.
