The funeral of Willie Thayer at the Congregational church last Friday afternoon was an occasion of peculiar sadness. The business houses of the city were generally closed out of respect to the memory of the deceased and sympathy with the bereaved parents. The large audience room of the church was entirely filled with sincere mourners and the services conducted by Rev's. Evans and Cressey, were especially affecting. The fire brigade of which the deceased had been a member, was present in uniform and acted as escort to the remains. The floral display upon and around the casket was very beautiful and appropriately arranged. Many sympathizing friends followed the remains to their resting place among the silent sleepers in Greenwood Cemetery. River Falls Journal 1-10-1895
