World War II US Marine Veteran. Enlisted in the U.S. Marines on March 5, 1942, served with Company G, 2nd Battalion of the First Marines. He was killed in action at Bloody Nose Ridge, Peleiu, during the invasion of Palau Island in the Southwest Pacific, about 400 miles east of the Philippine Islands. He was awarded the Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster posthumously.
