Melvin G. "Mel" Abersold, 61, of 613 Indian Road, Clearfield, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 1994, at Clearfield Hospital.
Born March 17, 1933, in Buffalo N.Y., he was a son of the late George Abersold and Hazel (Josephson) Abersold Brevoort of Jamestown, N.Y.
He was retired as a field engineer with Unisys Corporation, Jamestown, N.Y. after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Centre Grove United Methodist Church, Hyde, and was past president of the Clearfield Little League Association.
He had served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy A. (Timberlake) Abersold, whom he married on July 4, 1953; his mother; stepfather, Howard Brevoort of Jamestown, N.Y.; three sons, Spencer W. of Durham, N.C., Victor M. of State College, and Michael W. of DuBois.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Amanda, Traci, Lindsey, Lauren, and Kiley Albersold; two brothers, Elwood of Jamestown, N.Y., and Shelly of Cassadaga, N.Y.; two step-sisters, Beverly Cox of Jamestown, N.Y., and Donna Stempien of Dunkirk, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his father, two grandchildren, Spencer Abersold Jr. and Michelle Abersold; and a daughter-in-law, Elaine Abersold.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield, with the Rev. Gary L. Daugherty officiating.
Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the services.
Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by members of the Clearfield American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts.
