Dowager Baroness Chandos of Sudeley
Daughter of Edmund Braye, 1st Baron Braye, and Jane Halliwell. Paternal granddaughter of John Braye of Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire. Maternal granddaughter of Sir Richard Halliwell and Jane Norbury.
Dorothy was first married to Edmund Brydges, 2nd Baron Chandos of Sudeley, circa 1548. She was the mother of two sons who both succeeded as Lord Chandos.
The elder son, Giles, succeeded his father but died without a male heir and was in turn succeeded by his younger brother William.
Edmund Brydges died on 11 March 1572, and Dorothy married the much younger William Knollys some time later that year. He was created 1st Baron Knollys of Greys, in the County of Oxford, on 13 May 1603.
Dorothy and William had no children, and he survived her by 27 years. He would remarry following her death, and would be created 1st Earl of Banbury in 1626.
