CARLSBAD--A funeral for Francisca C. "Kica" Holguin, 88, of Tidwell Road, will be 10 a.m. Monday at San Jose Catholic Church with the Rev. Valentine Jankowski officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Catarina Cemetery.
A vigil will be 7 p.m. today at San Jose Catholic Church.
Mrs. Holguin died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Carlsbad Medical Center.
Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Francisca Carrasco "Kica" Holguin was born Oct. 20, 1912, to Eleuterio and Longina Carrasco in Barstow, Texas. She grew up in Redford, Texas.
She married Rodolfo Holguin in 1929.
Mrs. Holguin lived most of her adult life in Carlsbad. She worked as a cook for the Otis School District and was well known for her Asaderos. She enjoyed cooking and sewing.
Mrs. Holguin was a member of San Jose Catholic Church in Carlsbad.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Carmelita Holguin; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include sons, Jimmy Holguin of Gilroy, Calif., Benny Holguin of Las Vegas, Nev., Rodolfo Holguin Jr. of Otis and Martin Holguin of Portland, Ore.; daughters, Cenorina Mendoza and Longina Florez of Carlsbad, Carmen Espino of Bellflower, Calif., and Sally H. Rhoades of Corona, Ariz; brother, Pablo Carrasco of Redford, Texas; sisters, Petra Gonzalez of Loving, Manuela Hernandez of Hillsboro, Ore., and Cleophas Rodriguez of Carlsbad; and 27 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
