FARM WIFE FOUND DEAD
Carlisle, Iowa, C. J. Richards, Warren County Sheriff and an agent of the State Bureau of Criminal investigations Tuesday were investigating the death of Mrs Betty Jean Conn, 44, farm wife.
She was found dead in a bedroom of her home at 4 p.m. Monday. A .38 caliber revolver was found near her.
Dr. L. H. Porter of Indianola, Warren County Medical Examiner, said Mrs Conn died of a bullet word in the head.
AUTOPSY
Mrs. Conn's body was taken to Mercy Hospital, Des Moines The hospital autopsy report said one bullet was found in Mrs. Conn's head.
Sheriff Richards said he was called about 5 p.m. Monday by Dr. R. P Oshana of Carlisle, who had been summoned to the farm home by a member of the Conn Family.
Sheriff Richards said preliminary investigation showed Mrs. Conn's husband, Maurice, 51, was enroute back to Carlisle at the time of the shooting.
He had driven to Des Moines to pick up one of the Conn sons, Maurice, 20, who is employed in a Des Moines department store.
A twin sons, Scott, 20, and a daughter, Linda, 12, were at home when the shooting occurred, Richards said.
SERVICES
Mrs. Conn was born at Chariton on February 28, 1918, and attended high school there She had lived in the Carlisle area 26 years and worked until three months ago as a clerk at the S. S. Kresge Company, seventh and Walnut Streets, Des Moines.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Des Moines.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Des Moines with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Also surviving are another daughter Mrs. Peggy Allen of Des Moines; another son Robert L. of Carlisle; 5 brothers, Clyde Murray of Esthervile, Wiliam and James Murray of Chariton, Raymond Murray of Des Moines and George Murray of Newton and five grandchildren
