Henry Kout Dies; Rites Wednesday
Henry B. Kout, 70, route 4, Shannon, plumbing contractor, died unexpectedly this morning at the Atchison hospital a short time after he was admitted. He suffered and apparent heart attack.
He and Mrs. Kout attended the wedding of their grandson, Earl Henry Faris, in Presho, S.D.,, Saturday, and returned at 11;30 p.m. yesterday from Sioux Falls, S.D., where they visited their daughter, Mrs. Daryl Faris.
They returned by car with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Higley, Nortonville. He complained of not feeling well after they returned, and was taken by car to the hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Stanton chapel with the Rev. John R. Davidson of the Lancaster United Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster cemetery.
Denton Lodge No. 449 AF&AM will conduct graveside services.
Members of the family will receive friends from 7 to 8;30 p.m. Tuesday at the Stanton Mortuary.
Mr. Kout was born south of Denton June 1, 1904, a son of Aaron and Ida Simpson Kout. He attended Mt. Vernon grade school south of Denton and was graduated from Atchison High school.
After attending K-Sate at Manhattan a year, he began farming in the Denton area. He and the former Daisy Irene Pike of Lancaster were married Aug. 25, 1926.
They made their home on a farm southeast of Shannon. It was while he was farming that he began plumbing and heating work.
In 1950 they moved to Shannon and he had devoted full time to his plumbing and heating business since.
Mr. Kout was a member of the United Methodist church at Lancaster, a member of the Denton Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite bodies at Lawrence and Abdallah Shrine of Kansas City, Kas.
For a number of years he served as a member of the Shannon School board.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Daisy Kout of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Darrell (Betty Lou) Faris, Sioux Falls, S.D., Mrs. Victor (Virginia) Young, route 4, and Mrs. James Oive) Higley, Nortonville; a son Walter Kout, route 4; a sister, Mrs. John (Lucille) Joyce, Denton; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
One grandchild preceded him in death.
