Mrs Tadd 78 Celebrated Golden Wedding With Husband In 1932
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Fred Tadd Sr., 78, who passed away at her home early Sunday morning. Rev. L. E. Winter, pastor of the Methodist church, had charge of the services from the late home and from the Methodist church. Interment was made in the Ashton cemetery.
Elizabeth Batchelor, daughter of Evaline and John Batchelor, died at her home in Ashton, Sunday, December 27th at 6:20 a. m.
She was born in Lyons, Wayne county, N. Y. December 4, 1858. When she was eight years old she moved with her parents to Ashton Illinois.
She was united in marriage to Frederick Tadd on July 2, 1882. Four years ago they were permitted to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. To this union were born four boys and one girl, Charles Albert Tadd of DeKalb; William H. Tadd of Melvin, Iowa; Fred Tadd, Jr. of Ashton; Frank Tadd of Lake Wilson, Minnesota; and Mrs. Etta Mae Year of Ashton. All these children with their father were present at the bedside of their mother at the time of her death.
In 1910 the family moved to Melvin, Iowa, where they resided for ten years. They then moved to DeKalb where they lived for a short period of time, after which they returned to Ashton where they have since made their home.
On December 9, 1936 she fell and was confined to her bed. Due to her condition and age of so many years in spite of all the doctor’s care and the loving care of her children and families, she passed peacefully away Sunday, December 27, at the age of 78 years and 23 days
Besides a devoted husband she leaves to mourn five children, eight-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Scorah of Reggina, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Mrs. Dollie Roach of La Harpe, Kansas; and one brother Charles Batchelor of Louisiana, and a host of relatives and friends
