Fred Tadd Sr Buried Tuesday

Frederick Tadd for many years a resident of this community passed away at 2:45 o’clock Sunday morning at the Katherine Shaw Bethea hospital in Dixon after a short illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Stephan Funeral home and 2 o'clock at the Methodist church with Rev Gilbert S. Peters officiating. Mr. Tadd had been a member of the Methodist church nearly 50 years. Burial was made in the family lot at the Ashton cemetery.

Tadd was born May 31, 1859 at Wilkshire England and came to America with his parents when he was 10 years old. They settled at DeKalb and later moved to Ashton. When 23 years of age he married Elizabeth Batchelor daughter of Evaline and John Batchelor and to this union were born four sons and one daughter; Charles Albert Tadd of DeKalb, William H. and Fred Tadd Jr of Ashton; Frank Tadd of Pipestone Minnesota and Mrs. Etta Mae Year of Ashton

In 1910 the family moved to Melvin Iowa where they resided for ten years They moved to DeKalb where they lived for a short period of time after which they returned to Ashton In 1932. Mr. and Mrs. Tadd were permitted to celebrate their golden Wedding anniversary Mrs. Tadd passed away December 27th, 1936 and since that time he has made his home with his on William and family'

Tadd leaves to mourn his passing four sons and one daughter, seven grandchildren and one brother Frank Tadd of DeKalb. One granddaughter Mrs. Ardyce Wildenradt passed away a year ago. One grandson is with the United States Army and three grandsons are in the Navy. One grandson Donald Tadd PhM2c is home on leave. The four sons and one daughter were at his bedside at the time of his death. Pall bearers at the funeral service were E. C. Shippee, Adam Gonnerman, William H. Ventler, Adam Schafer, Justus Wagner and William F. Klingebiel. Hymns of comfort were sung by Harry G Wisman accompanied at the organ by Miss Dorothy Dean.

Those from out-of-town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tadd of Pipestone, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Tadd; Mr. and Mrs. James Tadd; Frank Tadd and son John; Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Buhler and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gonnerman of DeKalb and Mr. and Mrs. Carl C. Stephan of Galesburg.
