Born July 27, 1915, in Pansy, he was the son of the late Jacob and Ida Susan (Shreve) Getz. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Marie (Riggleman) Getz, Sept. 14, 2003; three brothers, Glen Getz, the Rev. Charles Getz and Olie Getz; five sisters, Rosa Alt, Dora Belle Mortzfeldt, Emma Brown, Bessie Hedrick and infant Mable Getz; three half sisters, Minnie, Myrtle and Delia; and three half brothers, Moses, George and Jacob.
He is survived by three sons, James Royce Getz of Wiley Ford, Kenneth R. Getz of Manassas, Va., and Allen L. Getz of Hagerstown, Md.; three daughters, Shelia Marie Wagner of Baltimore, Linda Joy Orndorff of Carpendale and Debra Rae Gentry of Waynesboro, Pa.; one brother, Harry Getz of Petersburg; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were June 3, at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg. Interment was in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.
