A native of Cocke County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late James L. and Bertha Banks Woody. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Ammon, Frank, J.C., A.L., and Thomas Dewey Woody; one half sister, Ida; and two half brothers, Creed and Hugh Ector Woody. He was a member of White Oak Baptist Church, and he loved woodworking, gardening, and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, one daughter, four sons, four sisters, two half sisters, two brothers, one half brother, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at White Oak Baptist Church. Burial will follow at White Oak Cemetery.
