Edna Lay, age 94, of Lancaster, Missouri formerly of Memphis, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012 at Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, Missouri.

The daughter of Joseph Albert and Leona Frances Wiles Clay, she was born December 26, 1917 in Putnam County Missouri. On March 14, 1935 in Putnam County she was united in marriage to Cecil Raymond Buckallew and to this union 5 children were born. On July 10, 1958 in Kirksville, Missouri Edna married Clyde Omar Lay.

Edna lived her entire life in Northeast Missouri. She and Clyde were engaged in farming in northern Scotland County until they retired and moved to Memphis, Missouri in 1986. Her favorite pass time the last few years was crocheting and she left many beautiful items for her family to remember her by.

She is survived by one daughter, Marie and John Tuttle of Murrayville, Illinois; two sons, Darl and Leanna Buckallew of Lancaster, Missouri and Harl and Linda Buckallew of Kirksville, Missouri; and daughter-in-law, Gloria Buckallew of Lancaster, Missouri; 14 grandchildren: Junior and Vicky Buckallew, Sandy and Bob Newland, Richie and Jasetia Buckallew, Kirk and Gigi Buckallew all of Lancaster, Missouri. Jeff and Brenda Buckallew of Omaha, Nebraska, Brenda and Juergen Deichsel of Wolfratshausen, Germany, Leon Rouse and Teresa and Sheldon Schokley of Murrayville, Illinois, Jimmie Rouse and Randall and Brenda Rouse of Oklahoma, Joann and Ron Homer of Greentop, Missouri, Gary and Dena Buckallew of Macon, Missouri, Dolores and Randy Sayre of Downing, Missouri and Phyllis and John Kaldenberg of Grain Valley, Missouri; 41 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren and a few great-great-great- Grandchildren. One brother Murl and Bonita Clay of Arkansas; and 3 sisters, Irene Salter and Neva Young of Kirksville, Missouri and Bernice and Wendell Lloyd of Greentop, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Lay in 2007, a son ,William Herbert Buckallew in 2006, a daughter, Thelma Valee Hoffner in 1964, 2 brothers John Melvin Clay and Henry Eldon Clay, a sister Velma Jane Scobee, two grandsons Roger Dale Rouse and Alan Eugene Buckallew and three great-grandchildren Randy Giger, Jessica Buckallew, Jason Boston and Stacey Gooden.

Funeral services were held at the Payne Funeral Home in Memphis, Missouri on Thursday, April 5, 2012 with pastor David Barton officiating and interment followed in the Memphis Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jeff, Richie, Kirk, Junior, Kelly and Kevin Buckallew, Leon, Jimmie and Randall Rouse.
