The son of German immigrants named John Herman Aling and Mary Adelheid Kotting, "Henry" was born in Rull, Germany. He was brought to America by his parents when he was 2 months old.

Henry was a tenant farmer on land owned by Francis Marshall. Henry married Elsie Watters, the granddaughter of Francis Marshall.

Henry and Elsie were both residents of Deer Plain in southern Calhoun County, Illinois. They were married on 13 Nov 1911 in Carthage, Jasper County, Missouri.

Henry and Elsie were the parents of at least 4 children.

At the time of his death at his home on Fruit Ridge, Henry was 88 years, 8 months and 30 days old.

He was survived by his wife, Elsie; 2 daughters, Angelus Pearson of Pearl, Pike County, Illinois, and Martha T. Aling; and 1 son, John Aling, who lived with his parents.

Henry was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth.

Funeral services were conducted on the morning of 11 Apr 1949 at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Henry's only son, John, died in 1966 and was buried next to him. Henry's wife, Elsie, passed away in 1969.

Children: 1 son, 3 daughters.
