Dr. Walter Hugh Brent, died Saturday in Hammond; a native of Bogue Chitto, MS; born 12 March 1879.

He graduated Tulane University Medical College in 1905; interned at Charity Hospital in New Orleans; came to this area more than 30 years ago. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the State Board of Medical Examiners, Southern Medical Association, Florida Parishes Medical Association; physician for Southeastern College; associate doctor for the Illinois Central railroad.

Survivors include his widow, Katherine Henderson Brent; one daughter, Mrs. Max Durham of Ripley, TN; one son, Walter Hugh Brent, Jr. of Hammond; one grandson, Max Durham, Jr. of Ripley, TN; his mother, Mrs. J. W. Brent of Bogue Chitto, MS, now in her 90th year; sisters, Miss Clara Brent and Mrs. William Cox of Bogue Chitto, MS, Mrs, G. W. Connely of Brookhaven, MS; Mrs. B. F. Herman of Crosby, MS; one brother, Robert L. Brent of Picayune, MS; ten nieces, Miss Jane Herman of Crosby, MS, Mrs. Allen Smith of Gueydan, LA, Miss Helen Brent of Canton, MS, Miss Frances Brent of Jackson, MS, Mrs. Jake Mitchell, Mrs. Julia Green and Mrs. Herman Perry of Picayune, MS, Mrs. Edward Garrett of Poplarville, MS, Mrs. John Geyder of Biloxi, MS, Mrs. Barbee Majors of Ripley, TN; four nephews, Brent Fox of New Orleans, Harry Brent of Picayune, MS, John and James Cox of Bogue Chitto, MS. His father, John W. Brent and two brothers, Harry and William, and a sister, Mrs. George Fox, preceded him in death a few years ago.

Funeral services Monday in Hammond; interment in Greenlawn cemetery.
