Flossie M. Salyer, 91, of Silver Lake, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 8:35 PM in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw, Indiana while surrounded by her loving family.

Flossie was born June 5, 1920 in Royalton, Kentucky to Hager and Ida (Salyers) Allen. At the age of 3 the family moved to Kosciusko County, Indiana where she lived the remainder of her life.

Flossie and Grant Salyer were joined in holy matrimony October 16, 1937 in Knox, Indiana. She was a very dedicated wife. Their love for Christ and each other was a wonderful example to those around them. You didn't see one without the other and crosswords were not spoken.

A homemaker, Flossie loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served him faithfully every day of her life. She was a 55 year member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God in Silver Lake. She taught Sunday School for over 28 years. Flossie was a very caring and loving lady who always put others first and self last and did not begrudge doing so. This precious mother and grandmother left all of her family a legacy in the way she lived her life.

Those whose hearts break yet are full of precious memories are her husband of 74 years: Grant Salyer of Silver Lake; daughter and son-in-law: Beverly and Samie Brown, Warsaw; sister: Bonnie Lantz of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother and sister-in-law: Walter and Maggie Allen of Knox; 8 grandchildren and their spouses: Deborah J. (Brown) Newman, Warsaw; Teresa L. and Chuck Lisenbee, Warsaw; Steve and Vanessa Allen of San Diego, California; Bill and Becky Allen of Argos, Indiana; Jenny Allen and John Allen of Monticello, Indiana; Benita and William Bibler, Winona Lake, Indiana; and Blake Neeley.

Preceding Flossie in death in addition to her parents are 2 daughters and their husbands: Carolyn Sue Allen (1972); Willis Allen (Carolyn's husband) and Charlene and her husband, Hubert Neeley, both killed in an automobile accident in October of 1980; grandson: Brian Neeley (2001); 2 sisters: Doll Watson and Jacqueline June Allen; and 5 brothers: Lynn Allen, Clark Allen, Hargus Allen, Dudley Allen and Oscar Allen.

Family and friends will gather in support of the family Friday, November 4th from 4-6 PM in Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw and one hour prior to the service. The service celebrating Flossie M. Salyer's life will take place Saturday, November 5th beginning at 11:30 AM in Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God with Pastor Frank Whitaker of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake. The family has asked that gifts in Flossie's memory be given to Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, 303 S. Jefferson Street, Silver Lake, Indiana 46982 or Alzheimer's Association, 922 E. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, Indiana 46617.
