Mrs Sarah Gero
Sarah Delane was born March 4, 1844 and died December 6, 1914 being at the time of her death 70 years nine months and 2 days. She was married to Peter Gero March 6, 1864. To this union were born four childrean, two of whom have predeceased their mother to the better land.
The remaing two are Mrs Emma Braden, of Bolder Colo., and Freeman Gero of Clinton Mass. Mrs Gero is survived by one sister, four brothers and four half brothers. Mrs Gero belong to a family of twenty children and was next to the youngest. She was left a widow February 9, 1874.
With this great sorrow which weighs heavily upon her heart, she was not discouraged but took up the responsibility of rearing the children as only a true mother could do. Her life was filled with many cares but in her sweet Christian way she surmounted every obstacle for she trusted in Him who promised to be the widows God, and a father to the fatherless children. Mrs Gero had lived in the home where she died for over 40 years. Her life and her influence will never be forgotten by those who knew her. Her hand was ever ready to help those who were in need and the little children loved her and called her "grandma" because of her kindly looks and words over 40 years The community could ill afford to lose a life and character like this saintly woman. She was without reproach. It is said of her that never an unkind word or action was ever known of her. This is the highest tribute that can be paid to her Memory. How much the world needs just such characters. To her sorrowing children we would say strive to emulate your mothers example. As the Christ life shone in her, so let it shine in you, that your lives like hers may be a benedivtion to humanity. May you in this hour of sorrow find comfort and consolation in believing and trusting in the precious promise of Jesus.
The funeral was held at the family home and was conducted by Rev. R. P. Green, with interment in Malone by the side of her Children. Farewell mother, sister, friend.
Farewell until in some sweeter cline. We meet again.
