Excerpt of obituary from Battle Creek (Michigan) Enquirer, 23 Nov 1966:
Marshall – Frank Wells, 89, of 312 E. Hanover St., Marshall, died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday in a Battle Creek hospital where he had been a patient for four weeks. He was born in Clarendon Township on April 20, 1877, a son of Horton and Mary Ann (Sellers) Wells, and had been a lifelong area resident. He was married to Maude G. Brooks on Dec. 12, 1897, in Marshall. She died April 22, 1950. On May 15, 1951, he was married to Mrs. Grace Hawley of Gaylord. Mr. Wells owned and operated the East Side Service Station and Grocery Store for 10 years. He was a former volunteer fireman in Perrinville and he drove the school bus in Marshall for several years. He was turnkey at the Calhoun County jail for three years under Sheriff Fred Hollingsworth. He was city alderman of the Fourth Ward at various times. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters by his first marriage, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Manke of Marshall Township and Mrs. Elwyn (Bernadine) Earl of Battle Creek; a brother, Henry Wells of Homer.
