NEWPORT NEWS - Leonard Barefoot, 63, a native of Sampson County, N.C., died Saturday, Nov. 2.
Mr. Barefoot was a retired farmer. He was a member of Blackmans Grove Freewill Pentecostal Baptist Church, Newton Grove, N.C.
Survived by his wife, Sudie C. Barefoot; four daughters, Patricia B. Lucas of Irwin, N.C., Ruby Barefoot of Hampton, and June C. Garcia and Brenda Beacham, both of Indianapolis; six sons, J.W. Barefoot, Leonard Barefoot Jr. and Willie G. Barefoot, all of Dunn, N.C., James C. Barefoot of Newport News, Grady C. Coltrain of Apex, N.C., and Robert Beacham of Lockport, N.Y.; a sister, Sudie B. Petzold of Hampton; three brothers, Dwight Barefoot and Stanley Barefoot, both of Newton Grove, and Rufus Barefoot of Norfolk; 25 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
