The three settled in the Dorchester area of Allamakee, Iowa and lived next door to Benedikt Eck, a widower with an infant son. Mary soon married Benedikt with whom she had nine children, two of which (Jacob-1 and George) died in infancy and were probably buried on the family farm in/near Dorchester.
The Eck's moved on west to Codington County, South Dakota sometime after 1880 where they lived out their lives near the town of Florence.
