Mary seems to have immigrated from Gussenstadt, Wuerttemburg, Germany with her brothers, Frederick and Jacob. The three immigrated around 1854. Frederick may have immigrated alone before the other two.
The three settled in the Dorchester area of Allamakee, Iowa and lived next door to Benedikt Eck, a widower with an infant son. Mary soon married Benedikt with whom she had nine children, two of which (Jacob-1 and George) died in infancy and were probably buried on the family farm in/near Dorchester.
The Eck's moved on west to Codington County, South Dakota sometime after 1880 where they lived out their lives near the town of Florence.
