Henry "Hank" A. Hrobsky, 76, Jefferson

JEFFERSON - Henry "Hank" A. Hrobsky, 76, of Jefferson, died on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on March 9, 1935, in Milford, to Edward and Frieda (Wuestenberg) Hrobsky, he married Shirley Witte on July 28, 1956, in Watertown.

He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jefferson, and was a member of the Men's Club and the Stewardship Board for many years. Up until the last five years you often would find him ushering at church at one of the services.

Henry served proudly in the Army National Guard and worked for the Jefferson County Highway Department for 35 years.

He loved hunting, fishing, camping, sled riding with his kids in winter, walks around the city in the early morning, and spending time with his family and friends.

If a neighbor was outside, and they looked like they needed help, he was there to lend a helping hand.

He and Shirley enjoyed sitting in the screen house listening to birds and other animals on hot summer nights. He also liked going out in the woods and cutting up fallen trees to get wood to burn at home.

Hank did a lot of volunteer work, including driving for the Meals on Wheels program for a number of years, helping with Bingo at Countryside Home (now Alden Estates of Countryside), and promoting the fundraising video for Tomorrow's Hope of Jefferson County.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Hrobsky of Jefferson; two sons, Jeffrey (Julie) Hrobsky of Old Ashippun and Jacob (Kim) Hrobsky of Jefferson; three daughters, Joanne (Roger) Weide and Judy (Dan) Bouchette, both of Watertown, and Jane (Irvin) Miller of Sullivan; three grandsons, Christopher Bouchette, Brian Miller and Samual Hrobsky; five granddaughters, Peggy and Heather Bouchette, Jennifer Hall, Angela Dankert and Tara Wagner; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Gregory; eight great-granddaughters, Taylor, Autumn, Isabella, Jordyn, Kara, Ellidy, Kodie and Natalia; three brothers, Ed Hrobsky of Oakland Center, and Art (Rose) Hrobsky and James (Marge) Hrobsky, both of Watertown; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, John, Robert and Clyde Hrobsky.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jefferson at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, with the Rev. Wayne Mueller officiating. Burial, with military honors, will take place in Christberg Cemetery in Jefferson.

Friends may call at the Olsen Funeral Home in Jefferson on Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Thursday at the church after 10 a.m. until the time of services.

The family requests memorials be made to Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson County, St. John's Lutheran School or the charity of one's choice.

The family wants to say thank you to all the family, friends and volunteers that spent time sitting with Henry and brought food for them so Shirley could concentrate on caring for him. It truly meant so much to his family.

The family also wants to thank Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson County for making it possible for Henry to stay at home until the very end.

And finally, the family wants to thank Tomorrow's Hope of Jefferson County for all their help and support.

God told Henry your suffering is done and it's time to join Him in Heaven.
