He was born in Greene County, Georgia, February 28, 1791, where he married Mary Ellen Lane, born Putnam County, Georgia, February 3, 1795, and died in Clarke County, Arkansas on November 13, 1860. He moved to near present day Milltown, Chambers County, Alabama, in the vicinity of Mount Hickory Church about 1832-1833, soon after the land was open for settlement. He left an estate of 13 negro slaves and other possessions valued at $6,000. He is buried at Old Mount Hickory Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
