CARLSBAD--A funeral for Elisa Baiza Acosta, 81, of Monterrey Street, will b held at 9 a.m. Saturday at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Catarina Cemetery.
A vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at San Jose Catholic Church.
Friends may call 3-5 p.m. today at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home.
Mrs. Acosta died Thursday, Sept 12, 2002, at home.

Elisa Baiza Acosta was born in Redford, Texas, on May 10, 1921, to Jose Franco and Savina Carrasco Baiza. The family moved to Carlsbad in 1923 and Mrs. Acosta had been a resident since then. She graduated from Malaga Junior High School.
She married Juan Elizalde Acosta on Sept. 18, 1940, in Carlsbad.
Mrs. Acosta was a member of San Jose Catholic Church and devoted her life to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a daughter, Juanita Acosta.
Survivors include sons, Juan Acosta and wife, Martha, Jose Acosta, Adan Acosta and Daniel Acosta and wife, Patsy of Carlsbad; daughters, Delia Martinez and husband, Julio, Olivia Lara and husband, Pablo, and Eva Acosta of Carlsbad; and 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
