She was born February 7, 1934, in Blackfoot, Idaho to Cecil F. and Anna Polatis Wright.
She married J. Boyd Benson on October 24, 1952, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Lucille was a faithful member of the LDS church. She served in many music callings in the wards she lived in…choir director being her favorite. She was also a Relief Society president, a primary teacher and a caring visiting teacher. Lucille played the piano, organ and trombone.
She loved to sew, was an excellent cook, and was a wonderful nurturing caregiver to her family and the numerous patients she served through her home health work . She was an extraordinary mother, grandmother and friend to those around her and was always giving silent acts of service.
Lucille is survived by her children: Debra (Edgar) Wells, Diane Mitchell, Susan (Allen) Tripp, John (Gloria) Benson, Scott (Kathleen) Benson and Lisa (David) Payne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Boyd Benson, and son, Steven Boyd Benson.
She had 28 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Clara LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 1706 Desert Dawn Drive, Santa Clara, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah and on Saturday, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel.
