Almar's name was derived by combining the first syllables of his parent's names, ALexander and MARy, although it has been found to be spelled Almer. Almar was a professional photographer and took many photographs of the Palouse Country, as well as family and friends. While engaged to be married, Almar died of pneumonia at the young age of 24 at his parent's home in The Cove area, a few miles north of Tekoa, WA.
